EVERY WAGGING TAIL HAS A STORY
On September 5, 2012, Michael and I planned to adopt one of Missy Liu’s babies, Bubba J.
While talking with their foster mom, we learned more about his mother. Missy Liu had already had two litters within the first 18 months of her life and had spent much of that time confined to a crate. Her foster mom worried that, because of what she had been through, she might be difficult to place in a permanent home.
We couldn’t leave Momma behind.
So that day, we didn’t bring home one Mastiff. We brought home Bubba J and his momma, too.
MISSY LIU’S STORY
What began as a plan to bring home one puppy became the beginning of a story we could never have imagined.
SEPTEMBER 5, 2012
Michael and I planned to adopt one of Missy Liu’s babies, Bubba J. After learning more about his momma and the life she had known, we couldn’t leave her behind.
That day, we didn’t bring home one Mastiff. We brought home Bubba J and Missy Liu together.
LEARNING SHE WAS SAFE
Missy Liu had spent much of her young life confined to a crate. She had to learn something most dogs never have to be taught: that it was okay to go outside several times a day.
She was skittish and unsure. We gave her time to understand that no one was going to put her back into that life.
LITTLE BY LITTLE
With patience, Missy Liu began to understand.
She was safe.
She was home.
And she still had her baby.

We had almost four wonderful years with Missy Liu before saying goodbye.
What we couldn’t possibly have known when we brought her home was how much the dog we never planned to adopt would change the course of our lives.

We had a plan that day. We were bringing home Bubba J. God had another plan. Momma was coming home, too.

What began with one rescued Mastiff has grown into a business serving dogs and families throughout Farmington, Prairie Grove and the surrounding Northwest Arkansas communities.
Caring for dogs is only part of what community means to us. Missy Liu’s also works to support local pets, families, rescues and organizations through events, partnerships and community outreach.
